How Times Have Changed: The Mouse Lords Over The Cat!

Ankush Kumar presents you the current political and administrative scenario in the form of this wonderful story. Must read.

Once upon a time in La La land lived hundreds of mices. They shared great camaraderie amongst each other. All of them played under one roof, enjoyed morsels of food together, hunted in a herd and kept outside threat at bay.

Then one fine day a new breed was born. It was the result of one mice falling in love with another from a different country. There was tremendous opposition, but eventually love triumphed. Years passed and the new breed grew up to look distinctly different from others.

The attention that small unit got created jealousy amongst the others and it resulted in the Parent mouse getting killed. The unity was broken, the shackles loosened and the entire community let loose. All of them started to hunt at will, ate into each other’s shares of meals, it resulted in a lot of bad blood, some mice who were stronger than the other got richer and richer by the day, some who did not have the will to fight perished, while the family of the deceased mouse used their brains rather than muscle and ensured they rule over a divided house of mices.

Decades went by and the mices adjusted to the new order of the society, most went with the family of the deceased on sympathetic grounds, the family continued to exploit this notion to fulfill their needs. Some others relocated and became powerhouses in their own areas, while the remaining fluctuated from one point to another depending on the climate.

Then one fine day a cat entered the fray. The new entrant created havoc amongst the fringe mices, the cat steamrolled through these nobody entities, and the poor souls had no option but to heed into the cat’s demands. The cat sensed an opportunity here and attempted a coup, she threatened the new powerhouses with her actions, and since these new powerhouses had more muscles than brains they couldn’t fight the might of the cat.

They also feared that if any physical action were taken the aunt of the cat would pounce on them and finish their generations forever. The new powerhouses went back to the family, whose parent member they had killed. Years had passed since that incident, but the grudge amongst the family had remained, inside closed confines of their hideout a solution was reached, the new powerhouse would share the profits with the family and in return ‘they would bell the cat’.

PS: If you some asking me the relevance, am sure you are a techie who has no further clue of what’s happening outside your 14″ screen. Get a life geek 🙂

The Dark Enlightenment – I

By Joybrato Dutta

Chapter 1 – The Scared Princess

She cursed her fate each time the traffic lights turned green. She prayed hard. One wish – Prolong this journey. For once, she desired to bypass her destination. But to her misfortune, her taxi raced by every other counterpart and in a flash she reached the dreadful hotel.

“Purity is a myth. Even the Gods didn’t posses it.  And when someone like the Hindu Goddess Sita possessed purity, she was put to a test. Because no one believed that she could be pure. Not even the Lord, Shri Ram. So it must have been we humans, who created this myth to vindicate our selfish beliefs”, Nikki said to herself trying to overcome her inner conflict.

As she stepped into the hotel, her eyes met several eyes. Some had suspicion, some had curiosity, some encouraged, some impeded and some misguided. Her eyes finally chanced upon the elevator. Her hands were shivering as her index finger pressed the button ’9′. The inside of the elevator was covered with mirrors. She looked into it, but couldn’t stare at her image for long. Shame and profanity made her hate her own reflection.

She reached the 9th floor even before she could start praying. The elevator doors opened and she stepped into the aisle.

A grey carpet, a grey aisle, grey walls with grey frames with grey pictures all guided her to a grey door. Room number 903. She opened her clutch and took out the keys. Her hands shivered as she tried to unlock the door. CLICK.!!!The door opened.

Chapter 2 – The Stealthy Weapon

The room had candles lit all around. As she entered, the fragrance of Jasmine allured her nostrils. She loved Jasmine. And yet she was stopping herself from succumbing to its lurid odour. “Make yourself comfortable, I’ll be out in five minutes”, a male voice screamed from the bathroom. After many years her horrifying past had resurfaced. A past she had concealed, even from her husband.

Three years back, on a rainy night she made sweet love to a complete stranger. It was the last day of her MBA. She was stoned and elevated to an echelon where making love seemed to be the epitome of purity. Little did she know back then, that her felony was being taped.

But today she had to make love, once more to that guy, just to undo her past. She feared that the horror might not end today and would resurface invariably. Which is why, she carried a knife. She quietly hid it beneath the pillow. And then she waited for him to come out of the bathroom. And while she was waiting, she got undressed and wore a robe kept on the couch.

Her heart skipped a beat. The bathroom door opened.

It Started With A Friend Request….

first love

By Rimpy Goyal

An emotionally unstable person that I am, all it took to boost my mood was a friend request in FB. Yes, a boon that FB is to us!!

A casual talk about searching for my boy friend lead to some references. Now how funny it could be that boyfriends could also be chosen by referrals. T’s spouse’s colleague. Yes, You read it right. And all started with Facebook request. Exchanging numbers, talking for hours, coffee outing and rest followed. And with it followed the fun of getting teased too. Something that I had not experienced before.

Mornings at work unusually became exciting. Not because of the work but because of the comments that I received from fellow friends. Someone has rightly said love makes the skin glow. And that glow probably showed in me.

And then came a dinner invite, an invite common to both of us. And with it came an opportunity to meet him. And such was the meeting that it never felt like the first one. I have always felt lonely amidst the crowd. I have always been in search of a friend to share things. Little did I know that I would fall for this guy whom I met through someone and that to on web.

Someone who sang songs for me at the second meeting, who cared about my friendship and my feelings. I was falling frankly and falling loud and fast. A Punjabi song from a non Punjabi guy really means some stuff for me. Yes, Jidha Chandigarh lagda na tere bina dil…Haye Mera Dil..Haye Mera Dil….And I went flat!!

I don’t know if this is called Love. What I know is I have got a good friend by whatever means it may be and I am enjoying this phase of my life. And I would really thank all my friends for teasing me time and again. It was due to it that this journey started!!

If you love someone truly and are meant to be together then even the Lord can’t separate. At the end of the day, for me the crux of the whole matter is that valuing friendship and relations is the only thing that makes life worth it.

The write-up above is a work of fiction.
