Persistence: The Path to Excellence

Sharon Andrew, Happiness Evangelist at Happiest Minds Technologies, Bangalore, writes on the value of not giving up!

“Persistence isn’t using the same tactics over and over. That’s just annoying. Persistence is having the same goal over and over.” – Seth Godin

In our journey to excellence, it is important to be persistent. Achieving anything that is worth achieving requires constant effort. During times when it is all downhill, during days when we feel like giving up, it pays to be doggedly persistent for in the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins – not through strength but by perseverance. (H. Jackson Brown)

Calvin Coolidge wrote wisely:

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.

Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.

Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

In our path to EXCELLENCE, let us frequently adjust our tactics until we achieve our goal. Let us persevere towards the goal.

If Christopher Columbus had turned back, no one would have blamed him. But, no one would have remembered him either.
